expanding notions of literacy


The first-year seminar provides a space in which to critically engage in literate discussion, laying a foundation for a course of study in the liberal arts. This semester, we will work closely with FS102: Art and Activism, exploring the interplay between art and technology in the context of social activism.

In this course, we are interpreting literacy in a broad context, and will expect you to not just read and write about the role of technology in activist contexts, but to engage with the technology and apply it creatively to a social agenda of interest to the class and/or yourself.

What does that mean?
